Siobhán’s philosophy of counselling is based on an integrative humanistic person centered approach. She believes in the client’s ability for self determination and helps facilitate the client to realise their own true potential. She understands that when the client seeks out counselling they are often in personal crisis and are seeking refuge, this refuge she believes can be found from within themselves when a safe counselling space is available to them. Siobhán has over 25 years of working as a social care worker, mostly working with vulnerable young men and their families within the residential care system and frontline community based projects. Siobhán has extensive experience in working as counsellor in areas of Dublin where intergenerational trauma has resulted in families being ravaged by criminality, drug & alcohol addiction and suicide. Being trusted with people’s life stories and experiences influenced her interest in studying and training in counselling. Siobhán currently works as a Counsellor within a community setting and with private clients, working face to face and remotely by zoom, phone etc when necessary. She enjoys the age range of her clients, aging from 19 yrs to 86 yrs! She understands the uniqueness of the relationship, the uniqueness of the client and their presenting needs and the responsibility that comes with being their counsellor.
